Old Man (I mean Vogelgesang!)

“Vogelgesang"
(tune: Old Man by Neil Young)

 Vogelgesang look at your ride,
Wish we were where you were.
 Vogelgesang damn your hide,
Wish we were where you were.

 Vogelgesang look at your life,
 ‘54
 and then so much more
 Livin’ Kelowna paradise
 That makes us envy you.

 Golf lots, such a cost,
 Hope for balls
 that don't get lost.
Not like a trap that won't get crossed
 Rolling home to you.

Vogelgesang take a look at your ride
Wish we were where you were
You got someone to love you
 the whole day through
Ah, one look in your eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Those bike rides, look at your thighs,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't take that much to be
Left in the dust by you.

 You’ve been first not last
Look at how the time goes past.
But we are still peddling fast
 Fallin’ back from you.

Vogelgesang take a look at your stride
 On a hot hike too
You’ll take someone to some peak
 the whole week through
Ah, one look in your shoes
and we can tell that's true.

 Vogelgesang, lucky, your hide,
Bumps you’d get if we were
  anywhere near your side
Wish we were where you are!

More from Kelowna - Thursday to Sunday

Hello again!

Well, as you heard, Wednesday was wasted!

On Thursday, Dale helped thread thick thistledown through Thackery and Thelma Thorogood's throw rug, and threw the old thatch away.

On Friday he fired up Phineas and Flo Findle's fireplace (from Fredrickton), fanned the flames, and flushed the flue and fuel lines. A freed finch was flying around the front room but he whistled it out the front door. Then he helped dig foundations for Phillip and Francine Ferguson (on Forest) and fixed the fence at Fran and Fred Finly's (of Fernie). Had some fried fish and fiddleheads florentine with a floral Pinot at four and went to the flea market.

Saturday, we struck out for a hike, then back in time to soak some sheets and sup some soup and sandwiches. It was sunny, so we slathered the SPF and snagged some rays. Just before supper, Dale helped sand the staircase spindles for Sue and Sammy Silver and even had time to sync their surround-sound system.
Sunday, well he rested. Of course, he still had time to plug (with pine) and paint the Peterson's (over on Ponderossa) planter boxes and help plant their petunias and posies.

Well, that's all for now. Hope next week is just as fun for you!
Love Mom xoxo

News from Kelowna - Monday to Wednesday

Hello from beautiful, sunny, Kelowna again. Well, this past week was a pretty active one, especially for Dale who has become known as Gallagher's Canyon's "Mr. Fix-it".

Last Monday, Dale helped Mildred and Milton Mansfield of Mountainview Mews in moving their magnificent, mahogany, mantelpiece into place and help make the moldings to meld the mantelpiece merrily into their Moorish master bedroom decor.  He also helped mend their maple medicine chest and measure their master bedroom ceilings for some new matching mirrors (not sure what the Mansfield's are up to on that one). In the afternoon, Dale went over to Mary and Michael Masterson of Medicine Hat to help manufacture some minuscule marquetry details for their marble and maple map drawer.  We're a little miffed that the Mastersons may be manufacturing moonshine - or at a minimum, making mushroom vodka - and not sharing... after all of that copper piping Dale helped them install....

On Tuesday, Dale biked over to Tammy and Tony Torkelsons on Tewsbury Trail to help tack their teal-colored tapestry to their TV room wall. He also took the left over teak that he used last week to make their dining table back to Timber Center. Then in the afternoon, he trimmed the trees for Tracy and Trudy Trapshooter on Trailwood.

On Wednesday, Dale woke up early to wax the wood wainscoting at Wendy and Wallace Williston's as well as wash the windows of their winter-garden room. He then went on to Wendell and Wilma Washington's house on Woodwarbler to winterize their west wall.  That afternoon he pruned some pine trees at the Patterson's, and weed-whacked Will and Wanda William's walk while also watering their Wisteria and winding the winch on a weathered well-bucket rope. We heard that Wanda was weeping when Will went to wag his finger at her for wagering too much at Whitecourt Casino in Alberta last Wednesday. We're not sure he will go back to whittle the kindling., wrangle their whippets, or wd40 their wind chimes like they asked. Sheesh.
